Now, there has been an interest over what is digital SLR photography. This is because everyone seems to be thinking it is something new and fantastic. Both amateur and professional photographers would like to be endowed with the latest innovation in cameras and photography. The new concept of digital SLR photography does imply a new innovation for such people. Simply put, digital SLR photography is all about more clarity and greater brightness. These two qualities end up making pictures captured from a SLR camera more effective. But, we should now discuss what digital SLR photography is.
Firstly, we should try to decipher the meaning of the term SLR. Well, it is an abbreviation for Single Lens Reflex. This reflex system indicates a freer and more flexible use of the digital camera. There are a lot of benefits to using digital SLR cameras. One is that the lenses of these cameras are easily detachable. They can be removed and fitted whenever you want it to be. So, such convenience allows you to use camera lenses with greater creativity and some invention as well. So, in this respect, the SLR cameras are really way ahead and worth attention.
Normally, in ordinary camerawork, you need to point your view to the object or person. If you lose focus, the image will be blurred. So, most digital cameras had initially taken this as a cue. But, now, digital SLR cameras have the unique sensor technology. This sensor system pops up into action whenever you press the shutter button. The sensors are built inside the digital camera. With these sensors, you will be able to capture a steady image. You do not need to point your camera. It would take a lot of effort. Use of a SLR camera saves you from such trouble.
Of course, there is also the benefit of versatility. Initially, most digital devices could only capture steady and stationery objects. This meant a limited use of photography. But digital SLR cameras have faster shutter speed. This means that you can capture fast-moving objects without any blurs. Every detail of the movement will be captured with clarity. Obviously, the picture quality can be adjusted or set. The picture could be brightened. The other aspects like the scale or aspect ratio and contrast could also be adjusted to achieve a good impact. Thus, digital SLR photography is indeed the next big thing for photographers

Let’s talk a little about the history of digital photography. It will be a ‘good to know’ knowledge isn’t it?
Two scientists from U.S. George Smith and Wilard Boyle invented a device named as charge-coupled device or image sensor which is actually the main component of digital cameras. They basically intended to install a camera system in mobile phones and hence they thoroughly studied the application of CCD in video cameras. They revealed the basic concept of CCD to the public, outlined the mode of operations of CCD and studied the application of CCD in good quality video cameras. The CCD technology was first used for television broadcasting as the quality of the image was superior as they appeared very clear.
Today the CCD technology introduced by them is not only used for broadcasting purposes but also used for several video applications such as television, facsimile machines, bar code readers, and was also used for converting the light energy into a devise of providing information.
Utilizing the CCD technology, the Sony Corporation produced the first digital camera of prototype that consisted of magnet and other electronic devices used to capture and record images. The magnet that created impulses on a compact floppy disk was used to record the images in the camera that were captured. Initially this camera produced an image of 72000 pixel and the images that were captured were stored on the floppy disk either in Field mode which consisted of a single track or Frame version which consisted of two tracks. Then in 1986, the Kodak scientists further improved some parts in the digital camera and introduced a camera that records 1.4 million pixels and this camera was capable of performing seven functions of recording, storing, operating, printing, relaying, and also print images. The first digital camera was introduced and sold by the Kodak Company. Later on the Xap Shot model that was introduced in the market consisted of still improved features such as self-timer, flash system and was rechargeable by lead battery.
Then in 1990 a Logitech model that was launched could still store more images and consisted of 256 grey shades according to the background. This camera was connected to a computer to produce and store images. Then lately the Apple Quick Take model that was introduced consisted of internal memory to produce and store images as it consisted a tiny system of computer in the camera itself. Nearly 30 inventions took place after the CCD technology was invented by the two great scientists.
